Secret Nature Brings Craft Cannabis Sensibility to CBD Flower

This article is presented by Secret Natureproviding customers with unique and high quality CBD hemp products that help improve any lifestyle.

CBD finds its way into an incredibly diverse range of products today, from tinctures and capsules to skin care products and even empanadas. However, most of the CBD isolate that goes into these products comes from a source that is the opposite of the diverse industrial hemp.

Rethinking hemp

But with the 2018 farm bill, which opens the door to increased hemp cultivation, defined as Cannabis sativa with a THC content of less than 0.3% – some cannabis companies are taking the opportunity to rethink what hemp can be. For California-based Secret Nature, the new life of hemp is a chance to rediscover a plant that most consumers could not be less interested in.

This lack of interest is not entirely unreasonable. To put it mildly, industrial hemp has not been a source of excitement in previous decades. While cannabis cultivators have spent years choosing THC-rich plants with different flavors and profiles, the composition of industrial hemp remains largely static.

Secret Nature seeks to change this by taking lessons on the development of strains that the cannabis community has been perfecting for years and finally applying them to hemp.

What is Artisan CBD?

The purpose of Secret Nature is to take the lessons of artisanal cannabis and apply them to industrial hemp. The breeding company’s team is working to pair high-CBD cannabis strains with hemp strains in interesting ways, seeking to develop new phenotypes that remain consistently below the 0.3% THC limit, while introducing other mass factors. – namely interesting tastes and high CBD content.

Founder Tyler Thorton, who started the California cannabis craft market, recalled that when he told his colleagues about his new business – the production of hip hemp – he did not receive much encouragement.

“At first, even I thought hemp smoking was a joke,” Thorton said. “But when I got a chance to try some of the plants that came out of this propagation process that expressed some unique terpene profiles and aromas and looked like any other flower on the top shelf, I was really intrigued.”

Construction of a breeding ground

Since the company’s launch in 2017, the Secret Nature team has been working hard to develop new CBD-rich strains of hemp flower with terpene profiles that rival the plant’s THC-rich relatives.

“I’ve been breeding artisanal cannabis strains with hemp strains in Colorado since 2014, and there was a lot of speculation at first,” said Eric Ramuzin, a leading cultivator at Secret Nature. “Over the years, we’ve done a lot of experiments with everything from breeding combinations to growing media and nutrients. This has helped us to regularly produce strains below the 0.3% THC limit that have unique and complex cannabinoid and terpene profiles.

Among the most popular of the company’s new hemp strains is Cherry Cough, a hemp strain with a sweet and sticky taste profile reminiscent of cherry syrup. Not only did the taste make Cherry Cough a hit among consumers – the fragrant flower also tested up to 22% CBD content.

“The market for this type of CBD-rich flower is exploding beyond our expectations,” Thorton said. “For consumers looking for some of the benefits of cannabis without the psychoactivity that is usually associated with the plant, we can offer a flower that looks and tastes just like the product you would see on pharmacy shelves – only without THC.”

Growing cannabis to minimize THC also helps the Secret Nature team learn more about the plant. The breeding team reports that mixing the genetics of industrial hemp with more traditional cannabis strains with high CBD content has led to some unexpected results in terms of terpene profiles.

For example, while cherry cough is exactly what CBD sweet tooths like, those with different tastes may turn to Secret Nature’s Diesel Puff strain, which contains more earthy and gaseous notes.

A flower for the people

While the company prioritizes the aroma, taste and content of CBD – as well as the lack of THC – in its early strains, they also listen to what customers have to say. In the future, the new strains of Secret Nature will be developed with feedback from customers across the country.

Beyond the new flavors and cannabinoid profiles that Secret Nature is able to develop in its plants, they believe that the hemp flower is a great opportunity to introduce users to cannabis wherever they are. Orders of flowers, vape cartridges, concentrates and even rolls of hemp flowers are delivered in discreet packaging and customers can try new products for only one dollar thanks to the company’s frequent promotions.

“We are one of the first companies to legally supply a real cannabis product nationally and internationally, with the only difference being that it is below the 0.3% threshold of THC, which qualifies it as hemp,” said Thorton. “We are excited not only to offer quality, boutique cannabis hemp flowers to parts of the country where the THC-rich flower is not yet legal, but also to introduce them to other minor cannabinoids in the mix, such as CBG and CBN.
